Tim Jerman is a five term state legislator from Essex Junction, Vermont.  He has served on House Education, Government Operations, and for the past six years has been clerk of the Natural Resources and Energy Committee.  He served on the Early Education Task Force which led to expanded Pre-K education while a member of the education Committee.  He is currently very involved with energy and solid waste/recycling issues.

After a 31-year career as Director of Human Resources at the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation, Tim was first elected to the legislature in 2004.  He also served three terms as a local Village Trustee in Essex Junction, and is a long-time member of the Board of Civil Authority and a Justice of the Peace.

Tim is married to Theresa Utton-Jerman and has two grown daughters and a stepson.  He serves as co-president of his local historical society and is a board member of the Vermont Historical Sociey.  In 2010, Tim was elected by the legislature as a Vermont State Colleges Trustee, and is currently vice-chair of the Board.  He has been the House liaison to the Vermont Democratic Party Executive Committee for several years, establishing a closer link between elected officials and party volunteers.  Tim chaired his Town Democratic Committee and is active at the county level.   He also coordinates Democratic caucus meetings in the House.  In 2013, the Speaker of the House appointed Tim to the Judicial Nominating Board, and in 2013 to the NCSL Nuclear Waste Advisory Committee. 

Tim has lived in Vermont for 43 years; he was born in Stamford ,Connecticut and graduated from the University of Connecticut (BA) and Northeastern University (M.ed).  He has been a resident of Essex Junction for 31 years.
