While Scott Joins National Attacks, Minter Stands By Planned Parenthood
Sue Minter: “We need a governor in Vermont who will stand up for a woman's right to choose without exception.”
October 28, 2016
Burlington, VT In Vermont’s gubernatorial race, Democratic candidate Sue Minter has made it clear that she is the only candidate who stands by Planned Parenthood and supports women’s healthcare choices without exception.
Meanwhile, GOP candidate Phil Scott has chosen to spend the final days of the election attacking Planned Parenthood for raising issue with his record of supporting restrictions on a woman’s right to choose.
“At a time where there over 400 bills sponsored in legislatures across this country restricting a woman's right to choose. When we have a man running for president who boasts about sexually assaulting women, it is important to recognize that we need a governor in Vermont who will stand up for a woman's right to choose without exception.” Sue Minter, 10/25/16

“It’s disappointing but not surprising that Phil Scott has chosen to spend the final stage of his campaign attacking Planned Parenthood,” said Christina Amestoy, VDP spokesperson. “By calling Planned Parenthood out by name, Scott is deploying more national Republican tactics to distract from his record. Moves like this clearly show why Scott has repeatedly earned the support of anti-choice champions, the Vermont Right to Life Committee.”
Last night, Phil Scott’s campaign launched a new ad attacking Planned Parenthood and calling them shameful. The move marks the second time this week that Scott went after the women’s healthcare provider, after his attacks from the WPTZ debate stage, where he referred to women’s health issues as “wedges” and distractions.
